Lot 342: Art Nouveau Style Figural Table Lamp with Integrated Mirror
An Art Nouveau style figural table lamp featuring a central oval mirror. The piece is constructed from a patinated cast material, likely spelter or resin, finished with a verdigris green and bronze-tone patina. The decorative program depicts a classically draped female figure reclining along the upper curve of the mirror frame, reaching towards a small winged cherub or putto positioned at the side. The mirror is housed within an organic, foliate frame embellished with rose blooms and scrolled leaves. The lamp socket is designed as a stylized floral calyx or bulb situated at the base of the frame. The entire composition is supported by a circular spreading base featuring a repeating foliate border. An orange rectangular adhesive label is present on the figure’s garment reading 343. No maker’s marks, signatures, or foundry stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Condition report:
The mirror glass displays significant foxing and clouding across the entire surface (photo 1). The patinated finish shows wear and rubbing to the raised highlights on the figures and floral motifs (photo 1). The electrical wiring is aged and lacks a plug; it requires professional inspection and rewiring before use (photo 1). The glass shade is missing from the metal socket gallery (photo 1). Surface dust and grime are accumulated in the recessed areas of the casting (photo 1).
