Lot 327: A Shadow Box Display Featuring Miniature Ceramic Wares and Faux Books
A wooden shadow box display containing an assortment of miniature ceramic items and faux books. The wooden frame is constructed with nine rectangular compartments and features a glazed front panel. The interior is lined with a dark-coloured fabric. The collection includes five white ceramic miniatures, each decorated with black line-art floral and geometric motifs. These comprise a miniature plate, a teapot with a lid, a bulbous-bodied vase, a baluster vase, and a bottleneck vase. The display also contains multiple faux miniature books, likely made of a composite material or painted wood. These are finished with textured spines in red, green, blue, and brown tones, featuring horizontal gold-coloured banding to simulate gilt titles. The miniatures are arranged both vertically and horizontally within the compartments. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the ceramic pieces or the faux books. The frame features a light-brown stain. A small orange adhesive price sticker is present on the glass in the upper right corner, and a small white adhesive label with the number 14 is located in the top right corner.
Condition report:
The item is in good overall condition. The wooden frame shows minor surface wear and light dust accumulation on the interior side of the glass and the fabric lining. The ceramic miniatures and faux books appear intact with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs from the front perspective (photo 1).
