Lot 116: A Collection of Botanical Leaf Form and Transferware Ceramic Tableware
A collection of mixed glazed ceramic tableware. The primary group consists of white earthenware plates molded in the form of overlapping leaves with ruffled, scalloped edges and a high-gloss glaze. Included in the botanical stack are similar leaf-form plates with pale green tinted glazes and gilded rims. Also present is a large, deep cream-coloured glazed ceramic vessel, possibly a tureen or serving bowl, featuring a curved handle and rounded body. The lot further includes a stack of dinner plates with a minimalist painted orange and red leaf motif on the rim, and a separate stack of earthenware plates featuring a blue-grey patterned transferware design around the borders. A white adhesive sticker is visible on the uppermost white leaf plate, bearing the printed numerals 6 6. No maker’s marks or factory backstamps are visible as the undersides of the items are obscured.
Condition report:
The visible surfaces of the white leaf-form plates appear to be in good condition with no immediate evidence of chips or cracks. The gilded rims on the green botanical plates show signs of minor rubbing and wear to the gold leaf. The large cream serving vessel appears intact. No other significant damage is visible from the provided angle.
