Lot 622: Two items comprising a 9 carat gold metal cored hinged bangle and a devotional book
A collection of two items comprising a yellow metal hinged bangle and a small devotional book. The bangle is of metal-cored construction with a layer of 9 carat gold mechanically bonded to a base metal. It is designed with a hinge and an associated safety chain. On the interior surface, the bangle bears an impressed stamp reading 9ct GOLD METAL CORED alongside a number 9 within a circular cartouche. The small devotional book is bound in red material with a silver-coloured metal cover plate. The plate is decorated with a repoussé image of a shepherd with sheep and is embossed with the vertical inscription THE GOOD SHEPHERD to the right edge. No maker names are visible on either piece.
Condition report:
The items exhibit wear commensurate with age. The interior of the bangle shows significant tarnishing and surface scratching (photo 2), while the safety chain is intact (photo 2). The devotional book has wear to the red material at the spine and corners (photo 1). The metal cover plate shows minor dents and surface oxidation (photo 1).
