A rectangular jewellery box featuring a domed, hinged lid, constructed from cast base metal with a silver-plated finish. The exterior is heavily decorated in a Rococo revival style, showcasing high-relief scrolling acanthus leaves, floral sprays, and a stippled background texture. The lid is designed with a central smooth oval medallion. The interior is lined with an orange velvet-effect fabric. The lid is secured to the body with two small hinges fastened by Phillips-head screws. A white rectangular adhesive label printed with the number 17 and a smaller orange circular adhesive label with the handwritten number 36 are adhered to the central medallion on the lid. No maker marks, hallmarks, or stamps are visible on the exterior or accessible interior surfaces.
Condition report:
The item is in good overall condition. There is surface wear and intentional patination to the silver-plated finish to highlight the relief-cast detail (photo 1). Two adhesive auction lot stickers are attached to the lid medallion (photo 1). The interior lining is intact, exhibiting minor signs of use and a small speck of white debris on the base (photo 2).
