Lot 672: Two late Victorian brass oil lamps with glass chimneys and milk glass shade
Two antique oil lamps of brass construction. The first lamp features a globular brass font on a stepped circular brass base, fitted with a large white opaque milk glass globular shade and a clear glass chimney. The second lamp is designed with a decorative ribbed brass font and stem, mounted upon a circular black-finished base, and includes a clear glass chimney. Both lamps remain in their original oil-burning state with internal burner mechanisms intact and have not been converted for electricity.
Approximate height: 40cm – 60cm.
Condition report:
Both lamps exhibit surface tarnish, oxidation, and a darkened patina consistent with age and typical use. The white glass shade and clear glass chimneys appear to be free of major chips or cracks. The black base of the second lamp shows minor scuffs and surface wear. Mechanisms are untested.
