Lot 671: A Victorian Stained Pine Three Drawer Bedside Chest
A small Victorian chest constructed from pine and finished with a dark mahogany-toned stain. The piece features three drawers of equal depth, each fitted with a turned wooden knob. The chest is raised on turned bun feet to the front. The secondary timber, visible where the right-hand drawer is slightly ajar, is a light-coloured softwood, likely pine. The construction methods are consistent with standard mid-to-late 19th-century utility furniture. The central drawer knob is finished in a lighter, natural tone and is a replacement.
Condition report:
The chest exhibits wear consistent with age and use. There are visible scuffs, scratches, and areas of finish loss to the top and drawer fronts. The central drawer pull is a replacement and does not match the other two in colour. The item shows accumulated dust and debris from long-term storage and would benefit from sympathetic restoration.
