Lot 655: Mid-century yellow laminate gate-leg drop-leaf dining table
A mid-century modern gate-leg dining table dating from the 1950s or 1960s. The piece features a pale yellow laminate top with rounded corners on the drop-leaf sections. The table is designed with a central fixed section and two hinged leaves, supported by a series of eight tapering wooden legs, likely beech. A gate-leg mechanism is employed to support the leaves when extended. The edges of the tabletop are finished with a wood-effect trim. The underside of the table shows unfinished wooden construction typical of the period. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible.
Condition report:
The wooden legs exhibit minor scuffs, scratches, and surface marks consistent with age and domestic use. The yellow laminate top appears generally intact and structurally sound, showing surface dust and light marks from storage; no significant delamination or deep gouges are visible. A small orange circular adhesive sticker is present on the edge of one leaf.
