Lot 572: A Small Jacobean Revival Carved Oak Side Cabinet
A small one-piece Jacobean Revival side cabinet constructed from oak with a medium-toned finish showing prominent grain, dating from the early 20th century. The cabinet features a vertical arrangement of two doors, each with a recessed panel decorated with a hand-carved foliate S-scroll and floral motif to one edge. It is fitted with turned wooden pull knobs and a brass keyhole escutcheon to the upper door. To the left side is a small pull-out candle or writing slide with a matching turned knob. The piece is finished with simple shaped bracket-style feet. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the exterior.
Condition report:
The cabinet exhibits general age-related wear, including scattered surface scratches, minor scuffs, and small indentations. The wood finish appears dry in several areas. Accumulated dust is present within the crevices of the carvings. No key is provided.
