Lot 573: Mid-Century Modern Oak Veneer Tallboy Chest of Drawers
This mid-century modern tallboy chest of drawers is constructed from light-toned oak veneer over a secondary wood core. The unit features a vertical configuration of seven drawers, comprising two smaller top drawers set side-by-side above five full-width drawers. Each drawer is fitted with a circular turned metal pull knob with a brass-coloured finish. The chest is supported by four tapered wooden stile legs. Internal drawer joinery typically utilizes machine-cut dovetails consistent with mid-20th-century manufacture. A small white rectangular sticker marked 20 20 is located on the side frame, alongside a small yellow label. The item is currently photographed resting on its side.
Condition report:
The chest is in fair vintage condition with a layer of surface dust and grime consistent with long-term storage. Numerous light scratches, scuffs, and minor abrasions are visible across the drawer fronts and frame. There are small chips to the veneer along the edges and corners. The metal pull knobs show a natural aged patina and some surface oxidation. The structure appears sound.
