Lot 27: A Collection of Vintage British Stoneware and Glazed Earthenware Kitchenalia
A collection of vintage British stoneware and glazed earthenware kitchenalia featuring a variety of utilitarian and decorative forms. The group includes a brown salt-glazed stoneware jug with a relief-moulded scene of a tavern or hunt encircling the body. A two-tone salt-glazed stoneware storage jar is present, featuring a brown-glazed rim and cream-coloured body with a printed mark for Robertson’s preserves. The collection also contains a mustard-yellow glazed earthenware pitcher with horizontal ribbed beehive decoration. Completing the lot are three cylindrical stoneware storage jars: one two-tone jar with a brown-glazed rim and two jars with uniform cream-coloured glazes. Several pieces bear small white circular adhesive labels with the digit 8.
Condition report:
The relief-moulded jug has multiple small chips and nicks around the flared rim. The Robertson\'s jar shows surface staining and significant wear to the printed lettering. The yellow beehive pitcher remains in good overall condition with minor surface wear and small manufacture-related glaze skips. One cream storage jar has a large chip on the interior rim, several smaller rim nicks, and a dark impact mark on the lower body. The two-tone jar exhibits interior staining and light surface abrasions. The second cream storage jar shows heavy brown staining and residue to the interior with minor nicks to the rim.
