Lot 26: A Trio of Ukrainian Hand-Painted Wooden Pysanky Easter Eggs
A trio of Ukrainian hand-painted wooden Pysanky Easter eggs. Each piece is crafted from wood and finished with a deep russet red ground. The exterior surface is decorated with a repeating pattern of small yellow and green floral sprigs. One end of each sphere displays a large, stylized multi-petalled floral medallion in shades of cream, pink, and green, bordered by a gold-toned circular band. These items feature traditional folk-art motifs characteristic of Ukrainian decorative traditions. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are present.
Condition report:
The items show signs of age and surface wear. Fine surface crazing is visible throughout the painted finish on all three eggs. There are minor scattered paint losses. A horizontal crack or seam is visible across the centre of the frontmost egg.
