A small-format Anglican devotional volume containing the Book of Common Prayer and Hymns Ancient and Modern. The book is bound in red leather with a sterling silver front cover overlay. The silver cover is decorated with a fine engine-turned textured ground, featuring a scrollwork cartouche at the centre with an engraved script monogram and a blank ribbon banner below. The silver is stamped with Birmingham hallmarks, including the anchor office mark, the lion passant for sterling fineness, and the date letter h corresponding to 1907. The interior text includes a list of contents for various Anglican services and the Morning section of the Hymns, featuring the text of New every morning is the love by John Keble.
Condition report:
The book is in fair to good condition. The silver front cover shows natural tarnishing and light surface wear. The leather spine and back cover are rubbed and scuffed, with notable wear to the corners and spine ends. The internal pages are age-toned with occasional minor creasing and signs of handling. A lot tag numbered 7 is attached to the upper left corner of the silver cover.
