This is a decorative metal hookah or water pipe of copper-alloy construction, likely brass. The object consists of a bulbous base and a tapering central stem, both featuring cast relief-moulded bands of floral and foliate motifs. A flexible hose is attached to the stem, which is fabric-wrapped and terminates in a turned wooden mouthpiece with a metal ferrule. The surface displays a naturally aged dark patina with visible areas of green verdigris oxidation, particularly around the base and joints. This style of ornate metalware is characteristic of 20th-century export or souvenir ware from South Asia or the Middle East. No permanent maker’s marks are visible on the exterior; the item carries two temporary auction lot stickers: a white sticker numbered 14 on the base and an orange sticker numbered 44 on the stem.
Condition report:
The item is in an uncleaned, vintage condition with a heavy aged patina throughout. There is significant surface dust and grime accumulation. Notable verdigris oxidation is present on several areas of the brass body. The fabric-wrapped hose is intact but shows significant signs of age, wear, and fraying.
