Lot 40: An Antique Metal Pedestal Oil Lamp with Two Glass Chimneys
A pedestal-style table oil lamp and a spare clear glass chimney. The lamp is constructed with a metal body and reservoir font, featuring a dark and heavy oxidised patina consistent with age. The design comprises a stepped, circular base supporting a bulbous oil reservoir. The metal burner unit includes a gallery for a shade and a manual wick-adjustment knob. The lamp is fitted with a tall, clear glass chimney, and a second hurricane-style glass chimney is provided as a loose component. This item is in its original oil-burning configuration and has not been converted to electricity. No maker’s marks are visible on the metal components. Orange auction labels are present on the burner and the spare chimney.
Condition report:
The lamp shows significant signs of age and surface wear. The metalwork is heavily tarnished and oxidised with an accumulation of dust. The burner assembly exhibits surface corrosion. Both glass chimneys appear structurally sound with no visible chips or cracks, though they require cleaning. The original shade is missing.
