Lot 466: An English Jacobean style oak gate-leg table
This gate-leg table is constructed from dark-stained oak and features an oval top with two drop-leaves. The leaves are supported by a gate-leg mechanism integrated into a stretcher base. The legs are squared with simple chamfered detailing, terminating in block feet. This piece represents a classic English provincial design, likely dating from the early to mid-20th century as a revival piece. Two small temporary identification stickers are present on the tabletop, one yellow printed with 466 and one white printed with 7.
Condition report:
The table is in fair used condition, displaying significant signs of age and practical use. The tabletop has numerous surface scratches, scuffs, ring marks, and areas where the finish has worn away. The base and legs show typical wear, including kicks and scuffs consistent with its age and utility.
