Lot 352: William Westall (1781-1850), Valley of Troutbeck, Westmorland, Hand-Coloured Steel Engraving
This hand-coloured steel engraving, after a drawing by William Westall (1781-1850) and engraved by James Tingle (active 1824-1850), depicts a topographical landscape of the Valley of Troutbeck, Westmorland. Originally published by Fisher, Son & Co. circa 1832-1835, the work captures a panoramic view of the English Lake District featuring a valley with water and distant mountains. The print is inscribed with the title in the lower margin, along with the printed names W. Westall, A.R.A. delt. at the lower left and J. Tingle, sc. at the lower right. The engraving is set within a multi-ruled mount and a dark, moulded wooden frame.

Condition report:
The paper displays overall toning and some light foxing consistent with age. The impression is sharp and clear. The frame and mount appear to be in good condition. Plate marks are obscured by the mount.
