A collection of mid-century modern British ceramics, primarily featuring the Saffron pattern designed by John Clappison for Hornsea Pottery. The Saffron pieces are decorated with stylized orange floral motifs on a honey-brown glazed ground. The group also includes items with dark brown relief-moulded geometric patterns, consistent with the Hornsea Heirloom or Brontë ranges, and white earthenware mugs with transfer-printed yellow floral designs. The assortment comprises a large cylindrical coffee pot, various mugs, milk jugs, creamers, and storage canisters fitted with circular wooden lids. Additionally, the lot contains a large brown glazed serving bowl with relief decoration, a rectangular dish base, and a lidded casserole dish. These items are constructed from high-fired earthenware and stoneware.
Condition report:
The items are in generally good vintage condition with signs of light use consistent with age. There is visible surface wear and discolouration to the wooden lids. Minor surface abrasions may be present due to storage. No significant chips, cracks, or repairs are visible upon inspection.
