Lot 572: A Sterling Silver Open-Face Pocket Watch
A sterling silver open-face pocket watch featuring a white enamel dial. The dial is inscribed with the text IMPROVED PATENT and the serial number 134630. The dial is configured with black Roman numeral hour markers, an outer minute track, and a subsidiary seconds dial positioned at the 3 o’clock location. The watch features gilt spade-style hands. The sterling silver case is designed with a coined or engine-turned texture to the outer edge and is fitted with a large circular suspension ring. The pendant bears British hallmarks including the lion passant for sterling silver and the leopard’s head for the London Assay Office. The date letter appears to be a lowercase h or k. The movement is a manual wind type.
Condition report:
The watch is missing its protective crystal. The silver case exhibits significant tarnish and light surface scratching consistent with age and use. The white enamel dial shows minor surface dust and light marks but remains generally intact. The movement is untested and has not been inspected.
