This garden sculpture is cast in weathered reconstituted stone and depicts a classical female figure in the neoclassical style. The figure is rendered in a pudica pose, partially draped with fabric gathered at the waist and falling to the feet. The sculpture is mounted on an integral circular base which rests upon a separate square stepped plinth of matching material. The surface exhibits a heavy patina from outdoor exposure, including significant lichen and moss growth. A metal wire is currently secured around the torso of the figure. No maker’s marks, signatures, or foundry stamps are visible on the base or body of the item. The construction and form are consistent with early 20th-century French garden statuary.
Condition report:
The sculpture is in a weathered condition consistent with prolonged outdoor placement. There is significant lichen and moss growth across the surface. Typical surface erosion and minor pitting are present throughout. A metal wire is wrapped around the torso, likely for stabilisation or transport purposes. No major structural losses or repairs are evident upon visual inspection.
