A pair of garden pedestals or plinths of Neoclassical design, constructed from cast reconstituted stone. Each pedestal features a square top with canted corners, positioned above a tapered body of square section. The sides are decorated with vertical fluting, and the shoulders are accented with foliate scroll motifs. Each piece terminates in a flared, square base. There are no visible maker’s marks, characters, or symbols on the body or base of either item. Small, circular orange and yellow adhesive labels are present on the top surfaces.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit significant weathering and patination consistent with long-term outdoor exposure, including the presence of moss, lichen growth, and surface dirt. One pedestal shows a visible area of loss and chipping to one of the upper corners. General surface wear and minor abrasions are present throughout.
