Lot 483: A Salvaged Octagonal Buff Terracotta Chimney Pot
A large salvaged chimney pot of octagonal form, constructed from buff terracotta. The piece features a deeply moulded, multi-tiered rim above a plain faceted shaft, terminating in a conforming octagonal base. The design reflects Gothic Revival architectural style. The item is of heavy construction and is suitable for use as a chimney terminal or as a garden plinth or pedestal for supporting statuary or sundials. No maker’s marks or factory stamps are visible.
Condition report:
The item is in a weathered condition consistent with age and prolonged outdoor exposure. There is a natural accumulation of lichen and moss, particularly towards the base. Small chips and nibbles are present along the sharp edges of the mouldings and base. No significant structural cracks are visible.
