Lot 436: A Jacobean Revival Oak Barley-Twist Side Table with Single Drawer
An occasional side table of oak construction with a dark-stained finish, designed in the Jacobean Revival style. The piece features a solid wood rectangular top with decorative shaped and scalloped edges. A single drawer is positioned to the front, featuring incised geometric triple-diamond decoration and a central circular metal pull handle. The structure is supported by four barley-twist legs, also known as solomonic columns, which are joined by a plain lower rectangular shelf. No maker’s marks, stamps, or signatures are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Condition report:
The table exhibits signs of significant wear consistent with its age. There is substantial loss and fading of the finish across the top surface. Small white paint splatters are visible on the legs and drawer front. Various surface scuffs and minor abrasions are present throughout the piece.
