Lot 434: A George III style mahogany tilt-top tea table with pie-crust edge
A George III style tilt-top tea table constructed from mahogany. The circular top features a carved gadrooned or pie-crust edge. The top is mounted on a central turned pedestal with a carved foliate collar. The table is supported by a tripod base consisting of three cabriole legs. Each leg features acanthus carving to the knee and terminates in a stylised claw-and-ball foot. An orange adhesive label is present on the tabletop with the handwritten numbers 439. No maker marks or factory stamps are visible.
Condition report:
The mahogany top exhibits significant surface wear including numerous scratches, scuffs, and areas of clouding or bloom to the polished finish. The carved edges and tripod base show general wear, small nicks, and abrasions consistent with age and use. Small adhesive auction labels are present on the surface.
