The auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Auction house commission:

A late 17th or early 18th-century longcase clock, the square brass dial signed James Gover of Westminster to the lower edge of the silvered chapter ring. The dial features Roman numeral hour markers and Arabic minute numerals to the outer track, with cast brass foliate and scroll spandrels to the corners. The matted centre contains a subsidiary seconds dial and a square date aperture. The 8-day weight-driven movement is housed in an ebonised wooden case. The case comprises a flat-topped hood with a square glazed door and plain pilasters, over a long rectangular trunk door and a plain plinth base.

The ebonised finish shows various scuffs, chips, and areas of wear consistent with age. The movement is untested and lacks weights and a pendulum. The dial and silvered chapter ring exhibit tarnishing and surface oxidation.
