A Mid-to-Late 20th Century Terrestrial Desk Globe on a Turned Wooden Base
A terrestrial desk globe featuring a printed map surface, in the style of manufacturers such as Replogle or George F. Cram. The globe is mounted on a brushed metal semi-meridian and supported by a turned circular wooden base. The cartography is printed in English and includes geopolitical labels such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, suggesting a production date between 1972 and 1991. The Indian Ocean is identified with prominent vertical lettering. No maker’s mark is clearly legible. The piece is fitted with a small orange auction tag marked 37 and a white lot sticker on the base marked 3 3.
The globe shows surface scuffs and age-related wear consistent with use. The map surface remains largely legible, and the mounting is secure. Overall in good condition.
