A pair of Chinese glazed ceramic figurines in the traditional mudman style, attributed to the Shiwan kilns of Guangdong province. The first figure depicts an elderly man seated on a rocky outcrop, wearing a tunic with a variegated blue and black glaze. He holds a separate, long straight staff. The second figure is standing on a similar rock-form base, wearing a dark-glazed robe and holding a large fish in his right hand. Both figures are characterised by unglazed bisque ceramic flesh tones, white moustaches, and long beards. The bases are formed as dark-glazed rocky outcrops. Each item has an orange auction lot label numbered 2444. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
Condition report:
Both figurines appear to be in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The staff held by the seated figure is a separate component. Minor surface wear consistent with age.
