Lot 204: A Trio of Vintage Castrol Petroliana Items including GTX Motor Oil Canister
A collection of vintage automobilia associated with the Castrol brand, originating from the United Kingdom. The lot features a large lithographed metal canister for Castrol GTX Liquid Engineering motor oil. The exterior displays the brand’s white, green, and red diagonal livery and includes the Royal Warrant text for Her Majesty the Queen, attributing the manufacture to Castrol Limited, Swindon, England. The canister is constructed with a metal carry handle and a threaded metal screw cap. The second item is a small, circular metal container for Castrol Grease, finished with red and orange lithography. The third item is a tapered metal oil pourer.
Condition report:
All items are in vintage, used condition. The large oil canister shows visible surface oxidation and rust on the top, handle, and base edges. The lithographed body has scattered scratches, paint loss, and a strip of adhesive tape remains on the front face. The grease tin lid exhibits heavy surface rust and degradation. The metal pourer shows significant oxidation and pitting throughout.
