Lot 196a: After Fra Filippo Lippi (Italian, c. 1406-1469), 'Madonna'
A circular colour print on board after the original composition by Fra Filippo Lippi. The work depicts a profile portrait of a young woman in Renaissance-style dress, identified as the Madonna, featuring elaborate hair ornamentation with pearls and a translucent veil against a dark, wooded background. The print is presented in a tondo frame with a gilded, foliate-decorated inner border and a wide, reddish-brown outer moulding. No signatures or maker marks are visible on the front of the artwork.
Condition report:
The surface shows minor wear, including light scuffing and a faint horizontal line across the left side. There are small scattered marks across the image. An orange adhesive label is affixed to the top edge of the frame.
