A salt-glazed stoneware flagon of cylindrical form featuring a sloping shoulder and a short, narrow neck with a rounded rim. The vessel is finished in a traditional two-tone glaze, with a yellowish-brown honey glaze to the upper portion and a cream-coloured glaze to the lower body. The shoulder is impressed with a three-line merchant mark reading Waller and Son Limited, Brewers and Spirit Merchants, Bradford. This item is characteristic of British stoneware production from the late 19th to early 20th century, specifically associated with the commercial brewing history of West Yorkshire. The surface exhibits characteristic salt-glaze pitting and minor kiln-firing imperfections.
Condition report:
The rim of the spout displays several small chips. The surface shows typical salt-glaze pitting, minor kiln-firing spots, and surface wear consistent with historical use. No major cracks are visible from the primary angle. An orange paper auction sticker with the handwritten number 156 is adhered to the neck.
