March sale
Lot 13:
This lot comprises an assortment of decorative items including a framed woven silk picture and various ceramics. The framed work is a woven silk picture by Cashs of Coventry, depicting a bird perched on a blossoming branch, with the signature Cashs woven into the upper right corner. It is presented in a gilt-effect wooden frame with a dark green card mount under glass. The ceramic items include a large jardinière with a flared, scalloped rim, featuring a cobalt blue exterior ground and shaped reserve panels with polychrome floral and architectural motifs in the Imari style, decorated with overglaze enamels and gilding. Also included is a circular white glazed earthenware strainer or lid with blue transfer-printed floral sprays and a central drainage aperture. The collection further contains a small dish moulded in the form of a pink composite flower with a yellow stippled centre, a painted ceramic robin figurine mounted on a circular polished wooden plinth, and a plain rectangular white glazed earthenware dish. Several items bear contemporary auction lot and price stickers.
The items are in good stable condition overall. The jardinière shows fine surface crazing to the interior glaze and minor wear to the gilded rim. The framed silk picture shows minor shelf wear to the frame. The ceramic strainer, flower dish, and robin figurine appear free from significant chips or cracks.
