Lot 12:
A collection of Chinese porcelain comprising underglaze blue and polychrome decorated vessels. The group includes a small blue and white dish featuring a seated figure in a landscape accompanied by columns of cursive calligraphy, executed in a provincial style. Another small blue and white dish is decorated with two phoenixes in flight around a central geometric motif, a design associated with late Ming or early Qing dynasty provincial wares from the Zhangzhou kilns. A polychrome dish is decorated with three Buddhist lions playing with ribboned brocade balls in a palette of underglaze blue and overglaze red, green, and yellow enamels, radiating from a central ruyi-head medallion. The collection also contains a cylindrical brush pot, or bitong, decorated with a continuous underglaze blue landscape scene depicting a pavilion by a lake with stylized rockwork and trees, in the style of 17th-century Transitional or early Qing dynasty wares. No marks are visible on the bases of these items.
The dish with the figure and script shows rim wear, including fritting and small chips. The phoenix dish has significant damage with multiple radial cracks extending from the rim to the centre and evidence of older repairs. The polychrome lion dish exhibits minor surface wear but is otherwise in good condition. The brush pot appears to be in good condition based on the visible exterior.
