Lot 59: An English Decorative Ceramic Scenic Plate with Gilt Rim
A circular decorative ceramic plate featuring a scalloped edge and gilt rim. The centre is decorated with a polychrome transfer-printed scene, possibly hand-tinted, depicting a traditional English village landscape. The imagery includes half-timbered and thatched-roof cottages, a multi-arched stone bridge spanning a river, and ducks on the bank. A script signature is present to the right of the scene, possibly reading C. Dickens. This style is characteristic of British landscape series ware from the early to mid-20th century. Two adhesive stickers are attached to the front face. No manufacturer marks are visible on the reverse in the provided imagery.
Condition report:
The item is in good condition with no apparent chips, cracks, or restoration. There is minor rubbing to the gilt rim and light shelf wear, commensurate with age and decorative use.
