A two-piece mahogany library bookcase constructed in the George III style. The upper section features a dentil-moulded cornice above a pair of astragal glazed doors with geometric glazing bars. The interior is fitted with wooden shelving. The lower projecting section comprises two short drawers above a pair of cupboard doors, each decorated with inset panels and corner mouldings. The piece is raised on a plinth base and is fitted with brass swing-drop handles on circular backplates. A key is present in the lock of the upper left-hand door. No maker marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Condition report:
The item shows surface wear and scuffing consistent with age and use. There is visible dust and debris from storage. Some oxidation is present on the brass hardware. The timber shows minor scratches and indentations, particularly around the plinth base and lower cupboard panels. The glazing appears to be intact.
