A Collection of Beatrix Potter Nursery Ceramics and Ephemera including Wedgwood
This collection features an assortment of nursery ceramics and ephemera based on the characters of Beatrix Potter. The group includes a refined earthenware mug by Wedgwood in the Peter Rabbit New Look pattern, decorated with transfer-printed illustrations of the character in a blue coat and lavender-coloured patterned borders. The base of this mug is marked with a circular rabbit head logo, the text PETER RABBIT, Frederick Warne and Co. 2001, and WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND. Also included are two small white earthenware mugs, one featuring partial printed lettering, and a larger cream-toned earthenware mug. The ephemera consists of a board book titled Peter Rabbit and his Friends with a green fabric loop, and a white paper cover or envelope printed with Beatrix Potter The original and authorised edition.
The boxed Wedgwood mug appears to be in excellent, potentially unused condition. The unboxed mugs show minor surface wear consistent with age and handling. The original cardboard box for the Wedgwood mug shows light shelf wear. No chips, cracks, or restorations are visible upon inspection.
