A collection of vintage bone china tableware featuring three distinct decorative patterns. The first group is a partial tea service decorated with a hand-finished transfer print of large multi-petaled pink roses and grey-green foliage. These pieces are characterised by a scalloped rim with heavy gold-leaf scrollwork and gilded handles. The second group comprises a tea service with a pale duck-egg blue exterior glaze and matching tinted saucer borders, decorated with small floral sprigs of pink rosebuds and yellow daisies. These pieces also feature gilded rims and handles. The third item is a circular cabinet plate with a wide turquoise-blue border surrounding a central white medallion, which is decorated with a multi-coloured floral bouquet including a pink rose, orange lilies, and yellow flowers. All pieces are constructed from fine bone china with gilded accents. Each piece bears a white rectangular adhesive label featuring the printed number 25 25. The turquoise cabinet plate also bears a small orange adhesive label with the handwritten number 208. The bases of the ceramics are not visible in the provided images, and therefore no maker’s marks, signatures, or country-of-origin marks can be read or transcribed.
Condition report:
The collection shows general surface wear consistent with age and use. The pink rose pattern pieces exhibit visible rubbing and wear to the gilding on the scalloped rims and handles (photo 1). One cup in this group shows a small chip to the foot rim (photo 1). The duck-egg blue pieces show light surface wear to the gilded rims (photo 2). The turquoise cabinet plate shows minor pitting and small dark inclusions in the glaze, known as kiln spit, from the point of manufacture, as well as light rubbing to the gilded rim (photo 3).
