A collection of glass decanter stoppers of varying sizes, shapes, and decorative styles. The lot includes examples of cut glass featuring geometric diamond and hobnail patterns, alongside faceted spire and ball forms. One prominent large stopper is molded with a lobed melon-style design, while another substantial square-topped piece displays a cross-hatched diamond pattern. The shanks of the stoppers are generally ground to a matte finish, intended to create a seal within a decanter neck. The assortment comprises a mixture of lead crystal and soda-lime glass, exhibiting techniques typical of late 19th and early 20th-century production. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the pieces. An orange adhesive price or inventory label is visible on the exterior of the plastic storage bin (photo 1).
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of wear consistent with age and group storage. Several faceted edges and points exhibit small chips and flea bites (photo 1). The ground shanks on multiple pieces show nibbling and larger chips around the base edges (photo 1). Several stoppers display internal cloudiness and residue, particularly within the deep crevices of the cut patterns and on the ground glass surfaces (photo 1). The items are loose and show general surface scratching throughout.
