Lot 207: A Collection of Cut Lead Crystal Tableware in a Diamond and Fan Pattern

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £2

Buyer's Premium:

A large collection of hand-cut lead crystal glassware, comprising a service of stemmed goblets and various tumblers. Each piece is decorated with a traditional pattern featuring a lower band of deep criss-cross wedge cuts forming a diamond grid, surmounted by a multi-pointed fan or star motif. The stemmed vessels feature a multi-sided stem with a central knop, resting on a plain circular foot. The tumblers include old fashioned or rocks glasses with thick, heavy bases, some featuring a star-cut underside. The glass exhibits high clarity and sharp facets characteristic of lead crystal production. A small white adhesive label with the number 25 is visible on the rim of one goblet (photo 1). A blue and gold-rimmed ceramic tea set is partially visible in the lower-left foreground, though not part of the primary glass collection. No maker’s marks, signatures, or etched branding are visible on the surfaces shown.

Condition report:

The glassware generally appears in good condition with high clarity. Close inspection of the rims on the stacked goblets (photo 1, left side) suggests potential minor nicks or flea-bites consistent with stacking and use. The facet edges and feet appear largely intact across the group. The ceramic saucers in the foreground show light surface wear to the gilt rims.
