TIMED SALE TO END FRIDAY LAST CHANCE
A mid-20th-century storage ottoman or blanket chest featuring a rectangular form constructed with a wooden internal frame. The exterior is finished in a white-painted woven fiber, composed of twisted paper on wire in a pattern consistent with the Lloyd Loom tradition. Decorative braided wicker-style trim borders the top and bottom edges of the body. The piece is elevated on four short, tapered wooden legs finished in a natural mid-tone stain. The hinged lid is padded and upholstered in a white fabric featuring a floral spray pattern in pink and tan tones, secured with a row of dark metal decorative upholstery studs. The interior is lined with a dark brown flocking material and includes a ribbon stay to support the lid when open. The internal construction shows joined corner blocks and staples. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exterior or interior of the piece.
Condition report:
The woven fiber exterior shows scattered scuffs and small losses to the white paint finish, particularly along the bottom braided trim (photo 1). The upholstery on the lid displays significant yellowing and large brown circular stains across the fabric surface (photo 1). One wooden leg exhibits visible scratching and wear to the finish (photo 1). The interior flocking lining shows general minor wear but remains intact (photo 2). The hinges and lid stay appear functional.
