TIMED SALE TO END FRIDAY LAST CHANCE
A mid-20th century mahogany sideboard constructed in the George III Neo-Classical style. The piece features a breakfront design characterised by a serpentine-fronted central section. The top surface is finished with crossbanded edging. The carcass is faced with flame mahogany veneers arranged in book-matched panels to the drawer fronts and cupboard doors. The interior configuration comprises three top drawers: one wide central drawer flanked by two smaller side drawers, all fitted with brass-toned swan-neck handles and oval backplates. The lower section contains a central double-door cupboard with a bowed front, flanked by two single-door side cupboards. These doors are mounted on exposed brass butt hinges and are fitted with brass-toned drop-ring handles. The entire unit is supported by six square tapered legs terminating in spade feet. The internal surfaces and drawer linings appear to be of secondary timber construction. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces shown.
Condition report:
The sideboard is in good used condition consistent with its age. The top surface exhibits visible wear including light scratching and areas of finish degradation or clouding (photo 1). A small loss of veneer or a deep scratch is visible on the lower left corner of the central drawer front (photo 1). The brass-toned hardware shows typical patination and some tarnishing across all handles and hinges. The piece stands structurally sound on all six legs, which show minor scuffs and marks consistent with floor contact.
