Lot 358: Boris Artist Teddy Bear by Valerie Lyne
A medium-sized artist-made collector’s teddy bear constructed from golden-brown mohair plush. The bear is fully jointed at the head, shoulders, and hips. It features dark eyes, a hand-stitched dark brown nose, and dark brown suedette or felt paw pads. The feet are finished with four individual stitched claw details on each paw. The bear wears a brown leather-effect collar secured with a metal buckle and featuring a metal D-ring. Around the neck is a circular white card swing tag printed in black. The tag features a decorative illustration of two bears within an ornate border, with a vertical stylized text reading BORIS and smaller script below reading by Valerie Lyne. The right foot pad bears a small orange adhesive price sticker reading 358.
Condition report:
The bear appears to be in excellent original condition (photo 1). The mohair plush is clean, full, and shows no visible signs of thinning or balding. The suedette paw pads and stitched details are intact without fraying or wear. The original artist swing tag remains attached and is crisp with no visible creases or tears. The orange price sticker on the foot pad is an adhesive addition and not part of the original design.
