A group of English bone china wares featuring a coffee pot, three footed cups, three saucers, and a cream jug. The set is decorated with hand-finished motifs of stylized autumn leaves in red and gold lustre, accented by black trailing stems. Each piece is further embellished with gilded rims and highlights to the handles and feet. The coffee pot is of a tall, tapered form with a scroll handle and a lid featuring a pointed finial. The underside of the cream jug bears a printed gold-coloured backstamp consisting of a crown symbol between the words GLADSTONE and BONE CHINA, with MADE IN ENGLAND below. Beside this mark are hand-painted characters including a red check mark and a small brown mark resembling a 7 or lowercase f. Similar marks are visible on the base of a cup shown in the same image (photo 1). The interior of the vessels is finished in a plain white glaze.
Condition report:
The set shows visible surface wear consistent with age and use. There is rubbing to the gilded decoration, most notably on the rims and the central wells of the saucers where the cups rest (photo 1). One cup shows a small dark firing mark or inclusion on the exterior base rim (photo 1). The interior of the cups appears clean and free from staining. No chips, cracks, or restorations are visible from the provided images, although the set is a partial service and lacks some matching components.
