A collection of four decorative ceramic figurines featuring anthropomorphic and naturalistic subjects. The group includes a pair of anthropomorphic rabbits depicted in domestic scenes. One rabbit, wearing a bonnet and a red dress with a white ruffled collar, is seated in a yellow tufted armchair and engaged in knitting with yellow yarn and blue needles. The second rabbit is seated in a matching yellow armchair, wearing a green frock coat over red trousers and spectacles, depicted reading an open blue-covered book. Both rabbit figures are finished in a matte bisque glaze with hand-painted details.
The collection also includes two naturalistic bird studies. One figure depicts a European Robin perched upon a textured branch accented with a single white blossom, mounted on a circular dark wood plinth. The second bird figure, featuring a long tail and grey-green plumage consistent with a Grey Wagtail, is modelled in a diving pose atop a rocky outcrop that includes a small snail detail. The wagtail figure features an orange adhesive label on the tail reading 69. No maker’s names, factory marks, or signatures are legible on any of the pieces.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition. The rabbit figurines show a significant accumulation of surface dust and lint, particularly in the recessed areas of the armchairs and clothing (photo 4). The European Robin appears structurally sound with the delicate blossom petals remaining intact (photo 3). The wagtail figurine shows no visible losses to the beak or long tail section (photo 2). No chips, cracks, or professional repairs are visible across the collection.
