Lot 533: An Assortment of Vintage Wristwatches and a Nurse's Fob Watch
An assortment of vintage wristwatches and a nurse’s fob watch, primarily dating from the mid-20th century. The collection includes a men’s wristwatch with a cream dial, Arabic numerals at the quarter hours, stick indices, and a sub-seconds dial at the six o’clock position, with the dial printed with the name ROTARY and 15 JEWELS, fitted on a stainless steel expandable ladder-style bracelet. Another men’s wristwatch features an aged champagne dial with luminous Arabic numerals and syringe-style hands on a brown stitched leather strap; the brand name on this dial is not legible. A larger dress watch features a gold-toned case and a gold-toned textured dial with a linear sunburst pattern and stick indices on a black leather strap, bearing script writing below the twelve o’clock position that is not legible as a name. The assortment also includes three small ladies’ dress watches, comprising two gold-toned examples with expandable bracelets and one silver-toned example with an expandable bracelet. Completing the collection is a nurse’s fob watch in a silver-toned metal case, featuring a cream dial with outer black Arabic numerals, an inner red twenty-four hour track, and printed text reading 17 JEWELS and INCABLOC above the six o’clock position, while the brand name below the twelve o’clock position is not legible. The fob watch is attached to a short chain with a horizontal pin bar. No boxes or papers are present.
Condition report:
All pieces show surface scratching to the crystals and cases consistent with age and use, visible throughout the photograph. The dial on the men\'s wristwatch on the leather strap at the left shows significant patination and age spots in the photograph. The mechanical working order of the movements is untested.
