A pair of vintage men’s cufflinks by Kigu of London. Each cufflink features a rectangular face constructed from gold-toned metal, inset with a geometric tri-part design. The inlay consists of a central dark band, likely black enamel, flanked by two panels of white iridescent material, consistent with mother-of-pearl. The cufflinks are designed with swivel-back T-bar fastenings. The set is presented in its original hinged case. The interior of the lid is lined with cream-coloured fabric and features a gold-tone printed crest incorporating a letter K within a shield, below which are the words KIGU of LONDON. The base of the interior is fitted with a padded cream fabric insert with slits for the cufflink stems. The exterior of the case is black plastic or faux leather with a white plastic frame.
Condition report:
The cufflinks are in good vintage condition. The gold-toned metal surfaces show light surface scratching and minor tarnishing consistent with age and use (photo 1). The mother-of-pearl and enamel inlays appear intact with no visible chips or losses. The presentation box shows signs of age, including yellowing and fraying to the fabric lining around the fastening slits and some discolouration to the interior lid lining (photo 1). The external case shows light shelf wear.
