A group of framed needlepoint embroideries, hand-stitched in wool on canvas. The collection features various traditional subjects including a central landscape-format scene of a figure seated on a garden bench surrounded by flowers and trees, a portrait-format piece showing a woman in a long pink dress and bonnet by the coast with a duck at her feet, and a larger work partially visible on the right depicting architectural elements and a seated figure in earth tones. Other pieces in the group include landscape compositions with water and bridges. The works are housed in coordinated dark wood frames, several of which feature gilt-effect inner slips or tiered gilt detailing. The central piece bears an orange rectangular adhesive price label on the glass reading 8.00. No artist signatures or manufacturer labels are visible on the face of the needlework or the framing.
Condition report:
The needlepoint panels appear to be in good overall condition with no visible holes, pulled threads, or significant fading to the wool (photo 1). The glass on the central piece exhibits heavy glare but the textile remains intact beneath (photo 1). The frames show minor scuffing and dust accumulation consistent with age and storage, particularly visible on the edges of the central dark wood frame (photo 1). Backings are not visible for inspection.
