Lot 417: Kevin Platt 'Harbour Scene' (Signed) and a Collection of Artworks
A collection of framed artworks and needlepoints including a principal work by Kevin Platt. The primary piece is a print on textured board depicting a harbour scene with several masted sailing ships moored alongside a stone quay and historic waterfront buildings. The work is signed Kevin Platt in the lower right corner. It is housed in a dark wood frame with a wide burlap-textured fabric mat and a gold-tone fillet. The collection further includes two needlepoint pictures: one depicting a pair of songbirds with orange and blue plumage perched on branches against a neutral ground, and another showing a naturalistic bird subject. Also present is a landscape work on paper featuring a solitary leafless tree under a pale sky, presented in a multi-tiered wooden frame with a cream mount. The various frames throughout the group include stained wood and gilt-edged moldings. An orange adhesive label bearing the handwritten number 417 is attached to the upper left of the Kevin Platt print’s matting.
Condition report:
The Kevin Platt print and its frame appear in good condition with minor surface dust; the fabric matting shows no significant staining (photo 1). The landscape print with the tree shows some light wear to the frame corners and minor undulation to the paper or mount (photo 1). The needlepoint works appear well-preserved within their frames, though the frames themselves show typical light scuffing and dust consistent with domestic display (photo 1). No glass breakage or significant losses are visible across the group.
