Lot 345: Art Nouveau Style Single Light Lily Pad Table Lamp with Mottled Glass Shade
A decorative single-light table lamp designed in the Art Nouveau style. The lamp features a cast metal base shaped as two overlapping lily pads with detailed veining and a patinated finish. A single, curved brass-toned metal arm rises from the base to support a downward-facing pendant light. The socket is encased in a metal gallery with a foliate, multi-pronged design. It is fitted with a single flower-shaped glass shade featuring a flared, scalloped rim. The glass is opaque white with a mottled or spatter effect, providing a textured appearance. The lamp is equipped with a gold-tone electrical cord and an in-line thumbwheel switch. An orange adhesive price sticker on the shade reads 3.45 and another on the base is illegible. A white adhesive label on the base is printed with the numbers 10 10. No maker’s name, signature, or country-of-origin marks are visible on the metalwork or the glass.
Condition report:
The metal base and arm show surface wear and areas of oxidation consistent with age and use (photo 1). The glass shade appears to be in good condition with no visible chips or cracks to the scalloped rim (photo 1). The electrical cord and plug appear intact, though the wiring is of an older type and should be professionally tested by a qualified electrician prior to use (photo 1).
