A group of framed decorative works comprising two needlepoint embroideries, an embossed metal relief, and two circular decorative plaques. The central needlepoint depicts a horizontal spray of carnations and daisies in polychrome wools against a black ground, housed in a stepped gilt-wood frame. Partially visible behind is a larger needlepoint work portraying a female figure wearing a pink-trimmed bonnet and a white dress, set within a cream-coloured frame with gilt accents. Below the floral work is a framed gold-toned embossed metal relief, depicting multiple figures in traditional dress against a black ground, set within a narrow gilt frame. To the left are two circular decorative plaques featuring transfer-printed scenes, one of which depicts a rural thatched-roof cottage. No signatures or maker’s marks are legible on the surfaces of the items shown.
Condition report:
The items appear to be in good vintage condition. There is minor wear and light scuffing to the edges of the gilt and cream frames (photo 1). The needlepoint textiles appear intact with no visible losses to the stitching. The metal relief shows some minor surface irregularities consistent with the medium (photo 1). The decorative plaques show no visible chips or cracks.
