Lot 301: A Large Intricately Embellished Patchwork Zardosi Style Textile Wall Hanging
A large, rectangular textile featuring dense hand-applied embellishment in the Zardosi style. The piece is constructed from multiple fabric patches in a palette of pink, beige, cream, and silver. Each patch is heavily decorated with silver-tone and gold-tone metallic thread (zari), sequins (paila), and glass beads. The composition incorporates traditional South Asian motifs, including central paisley (boteh) forms, floral sprigs, and geometric borders. The borders are particularly densely worked with rows of metallic thread and small glass beads. The item is currently housed in a clear plastic storage bag; a blue fabric edge is visible at the lower right. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the textile or the packaging.
Condition report:
The textile appears to be in good overall condition, currently folded and sealed in plastic (photo 1). The fabric shows no visible signs of significant fading or staining through the packaging. As is characteristic of heavily embellished handmade textiles of this type, there is some minor looseness to the sequins and metallic threads throughout the embroidered sections (photo 1). The density of the beadwork appears intact with no large areas of loss visible. The reverse side and full edges cannot be inspected due to the folded state and plastic covering.
